CHILD ABUSE CAMPAIGN
UNICEF
TRABAJO INFANTIL/ CHILD LABOUR.

PROBLEM:

In Ecuador 8.6% of children and teenagers, between the ages of 5 to 17 years old, work on the streets. This statistics are no fun, because the cruel reality is that while there are kids that are enjoying their early years as they should, many others are working, like adults.

This is a reality that we all know but sadly it has become part of the landscape. We see children on the streets selling us bubble gum, chocolates, even cigarets: washing our wind shields and asking us if they can polish our shoes. We see this as normal and most of the time we encourage this activity buying stuff from them. Its clear that we don’t understand the seriousness of the matter.

That is why, to create awareness and generate impact, it is necessary to put people in the shoes of the less fortunate. We consider that the right place to create this awareness is in toy stores where parents go with their children to buy them their favorite toys, to make them happy and give them the best childhood.
SOLUTION

We will place in the most important toys stores of the country a series of toys that no parent would want to buy for their kids:

- SHOE POLISHER KIT,
- GUM VENDER KIT,
- WINDSHIELD CLEANER KIT.

These toys would come in a box, with a fun name as every toy does, it will have their own instructions, recommended age and every detail we find in any other normal toy box. But instead of finding a plastic colorful toy, they would find the actual work material of these working kids.  Also we will use the actual picture of a kid working in one of these activities.

On the back of the box we would place a message of awareness to encourage people to be part of this important movement by donating or finding  out more about this situation and how to take action.

"Many kids in Ecuador aren't as fortunate as ours. Instead of playing as they should, they are working, like adults. More than once we have encouraged this activity by buying what they sell to us to try to help them. Find out how you can help them in a more permanent way at www.unicef.com/trabajo-infantil. You could also help them by making a donation in any cash register of the store"

Síndrome de Down/ Down sindrome campaign
IDEA:
We would use the actual drawings of kids with down syndrome to make this cute stuffed animals. Each of them would have the picture of the "author" and the real drawing. We will sell them in toy stores to create awareness of down syndrome and to invite people to help the cause by taking one of these home to their kids. Every cent made by this campaign would be use to help poor families with kids with down syndrome.
